Lemonade Stand

For parents

How we keep kids safe

This is the short version, in plain words. The Privacy page has the full policy. Everything you see here is already true today, and we will keep building on this foundation of safety and trust.

A verified adult is behind every store

A parent creates the account and passes a card check before any child account or store exists. The parent is the seller of record. Kids never give us an email, a password, a photo, an address or a birthday.

A parent approves everything before it goes live

Every product, price, photo, store name, bio and announcement a kid writes waits for a parent to approve it. Nothing a child types reaches the public until a grown-up has read it.

Strangers cannot message a child

Customer messages, order details and questions go to the parent, never to the kid. Children do not send or receive messages on Lemonade Stand. Kids write notes for people the family already knows, and the parent sends them.

Stores are private by default

A new store is reachable only by the link the family shares. It appears in the public Shop only if the parent chooses that. A kid is shown by first name only when the parent turns that on, and we never show photos of children.

Two separate sign-ins

A kid signs in with a nickname and a picture passcode, and sees only kid pages. Parent pages sit behind a separate parent login plus a math question that is easy for an adult and hard for a six year old.

No ads, no selling of data

There is no advertising anywhere on the site. Analytics are off on every kid page. We never sell or share family data, and we collect the least we can: a first name for the kid, an age range, and what they choose to put in their store.

The kid earns it, the parent holds it

What a kid sells is theirs, and we do not take a cut. Card payments are handled by Stripe and land in the parent’s bank account, because a child cannot hold one. The kid sees every dollar they earned and their savings jar; they never see card numbers or a customer’s contact details.

Delivery is a grown-up job

A parent packs and ships every order, or hands it over in person for local pickup. A child never meets a buyer alone, and the buyer’s address is only ever shown to the parent.

Questions parents ask

Can strangers contact my kid on Lemonade Stand?

No. Children do not send or receive messages on Lemonade Stand. Anything a customer writes goes to the parent who runs the account. Kids can write notes for people the family already knows, and the parent is the one who sends them.

Is Lemonade Stand COPPA compliant?

Lemonade Stand was built around COPPA from day one. A parent gives verifiable consent through a card check before any child account exists, we collect only a first name and an age range for the child, we show no advertising, and we never sell or share children’s information. We built to the COPPA standard first and will pursue independent certification as we grow.

What does a parent have to approve?

Every product, price, photo and piece of store text before it goes live, every order before the kid fills it, and every compliment a visitor leaves before the kid sees it. Opening the store to the public Shop is a separate choice the parent makes.

What information do you collect about my child?

A first name (a nickname is fine), an age range, a nickname and picture passcode for signing in, and whatever the child puts in their store, which the parent approves. No email, phone number, photo, address or date of birth is ever asked for.

Does my kid have to be on social media to sell?

No. A store lives at its own link, and most first customers are grandparents, aunts, uncles and family friends who got the link from a parent. Your kid never needs a social media account.

How do I delete my family’s account and data?

Email privacy@getlemonadestand.com from the parent account and we delete the account, the store and the child’s information. The Privacy page explains the little that has to be kept for order and payment records.

Something we should know about? Email privacy@getlemonadestand.com and a person reads it.
